He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo and Ottilia; his brother Joseph; and his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Gladys Krieser.

He is survived by: his wife Doreen; his children, Leslie Schmidt (Marty) and Robert Diederichs (Kimberlee); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Noah, Matthew Schmidt, Samuel Diederichs and Emma Constance Teichgraber (William); his brother William Diederichs (late Barbara); and his sisters-in-law, Jean Ward (Harold), Linda Whatley (Wayne) and Myrna Grafton (Don). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
