He was predeceased by: his son Colin; his parents, Charles and Dorothy; and his siblings, Betty, Muriel, Jack, Fred, Albert, Harold and Bill.

He is survived by: his spouse Elsie; his daughters, Renae McColman (Alan), Penny Gilchrist and Tracy Tkachuk (Brian); his grandchildren, LeAnne (Brody), Kayla (Ryan), Danielle (Ryan), Devyn (Geoff), Mitch, Jaedyn and Jordan; his great grandchild Kennedy; his brothers, Gordon (Jean) and Roydon (Joyce); and his siblings-in-law, Harvey (Darlene), George (Denise), Gordon Knott and Corliss.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in memory of Howard.
