Holly Sundquist Obituary
In Loving Memory of Holly Sundquist It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful daughter, loving sister, adored friend, niece, granddaughter, and coach. Holly Sundquist passed unexpectedly and tragically on Dec. 9, 2022 at the tender age of 21 in a car accident. She was on the way to her Grandpa's place to help him decorate for Christmas.
We are shattered by our loss. Holly was a light to everyone who knew her. She had a smile, a hug and a kind word for everyone. Holly was the youngest of the family and is survived by her older brothers Pearce and Callum, her parents Karen and Kevin, grandparents Wayne Sundquist, Carmen Pearce, Bob and Carol Pearce as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is pre-deceased by her much loved Grandma, Sharon Sundquist.
Holly had a zest for life like no other. She was never one to sit on the sidelines. She LOVED to sing and started taking lessons at her aunt Leanne's studio when she was 13 years old. She learned to love the stage and most recently participated in an impromptu karaoke competition at Big Valley Jamboree, finishing in the final four! She absolutely loved performing for a crowd. She also posted many videos of her singing on social media - dedicating her many performances to friends and family.
Growing up she also loved horseback riding with her best friend Katie. They would play games on their horses, jump off the trampoline onto the horse, gallop bareback across the fields, trail ride, jump puddles and logs, tow toboggans in the snow and just about anything they could imagine and the horses would tolerate! As she got older she started to dabble in more 'formal' horseback learning, expanding her circle of friends into the horse community, but she always loved just playing around.
Holly loved the outdoors - camping trips with the family (except for the hiking, which she always tried to get out of!), downhill skiing trips, and recently waterskiing and wake-boarding. When she was in grade 1 on a field trip to the Snow Valley ski hill in the city, on her first run she took off and went straight down the hill, not turning. Karen, her mom, took off after her thinking she would be traumatized and when she caught up to Holly at the bottom, Holly turned and said "THAT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!" And she was hooked.
One consistent quality through all her passions and stages of life was fashion. She had to look good no matter what she was doing. Even if she was covered in grease from changing her car oil (yes, she could change her own oil), or driving the skid-steer while helping build the barn, she did it with her fake eyelashes on.
Holly was intimately involved in all her siblings and cousins lives. She was the only girl on both sides of the family. She was the family organizer, the family coordinator, the family glue. She was the one who made sure everyone showed up to events on time, she made sure everyone was included, she made sure everyone was loved. She had time for everyone. She will leave such a huge void in our lives.
Rest in peace Baby Girl.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre, (2100 Premier Way, Sherwood Park, AB).
