He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Mary Shewan Zeman and Joseph Zeman Jr. As; and his brother Dale Zeman. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Ligtelyn; his sister Alberta On Ice; his children, Suzanne Zeman (Norman Mendoza) and Spencer Zeman; his grandchildren, Julianne, Shay and Sienna; his siblings, Brenda Zeman (Tommy Lee) and Kevan Shaffer; and his nephews, Chad and Scott Zeman.

Donations in Gary's memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and to the New Democratic Party for the next provincial election in Alberta.
