He was predeceased by: his wife Elvina; his mother Miriam Robb; his stepfather Morris Robb; and his father John Shannon (Jack). He is survived by: his children, Rodger Shannon, Tracy Muth (Duane) and Jim Shannon (Diane); his grandchildren, Kayla, Kristyn Shannon, Alex, Isaak and Aidan Muth; his sister Bev Cornish (Bruce); and his nieces, Anika Petrie (Geoff) and Jenny Richardson (Steve).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
