He was predeceased by: his mother Shirley; and his brother Calvin. He is survived by: his daughter Jordyn; his father Walter; his nieces and nephews, Sheila (Adam), Philip, Hendrix and Sloan; and his friend Greg.

“Sometimes it’s hard not to wish for one more day, one more word, one more chance to say goodbye. I haven’t seen Barry since our High School Graduation in ‘81. We re-connect a couple years ago, with hopes of meeting up while I was back in Edmonton, last year. It seems so hard to believe that Barry is gone. “Our time together at CEA was too short, I found Barry to be quite an amazing person. He spoke of his family passionately as well as the Oilers haha. He definitely had a tough last year+ with many life altering events. When his brother passed it hit him really hard. "Scooter rides won't be the same" was one thing he said. It also set him on the path of trying to take better care of himself. "Small changes" he would say. Not knowing the battle he had ahead of him. You will be remembered. Sandy”
