He was predeceased by: his wife Rita; his parents, Ingvald and Valda; and his siblings, Henry, Reuben, Archie, Harvey and Louise.
He is survived by: his aunt Gunda; his children, Marie Hartfelder of Edmonton, Verna Steil of Sedgewick, Jim (Sandy) of Calgary, Catherine Kells (Doug) of Forestburg, Garry (Laurel) of Lougheed and Ivan of Victoria; his sons-in-law, Edwin Hartfelder and Ralph Steil; his grandson Murray Steil; and his great grandchild Lauren Brodie. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
