Gordon Backen Obituary

We are sad to announce that on September 7, 2022, Gordon Backen of Sedgewick, Alberta, born in Killam, Alberta passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Gudrun Backen and Melvin Backen; his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Stella Kneeland; his sister Dorothy Miller; his brothers-in-law, Fred Reis and Calvin McPherson; and his niece Macala Kneeland.

He is survived by: his wife Gay Backen; his children, Brenda Dalton (Sean) and Jason Backen (Cherise); his grandchildren, Lucas, Courtney, Sophie, Ben and Jaida; his siblings, Lilian McPherson, Thordis Reis (Don) and Lonnie Backen (Sandra); his brother-in-law Blair Kneeland; and his grandson Jason. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Sedgewick Public Library.
