He is survived by: his wife Christel; his children, Kristin Renger, Karla Thiessen (Danny), Oliver Schunicht, Silvia Schunicht, Sonia Martin (Mike) and Volker Schunicht; his grandchildren, Nicole (Trevor), Cody, David (Amanda), Kimberly, Jeffery, Jessica, Dawson, Emily, Jonah and Annika; his great grandchildren, Aubry, Wyatt, Cali, Tyce and Sydney; and his sister Caecilia Rath.
