He was predeceased by: his parents, Wes Lyster and Myrtle Lyster; his siblings, Hugh, Bob, Tom, Ruth and Grace; his wife Rilla McGhee; and his daughters, Deb and Michelle.

He is survived by: his family, Tim, Michelle, Deb and Wes; his sons, Tim Lyster (Colleen) of Calgary and Wes Lyster (Sheri) of Calgary, Alberta; his son-in-law Robert Johnston of Alhambra, Alberta; his grandchildren, Cheryl (Steve), Allison (Cory), Devin, Jason, Colin, Gregory, Patrick and Riley; and his extended family, Marilyn, Otto Rauch, Alice, Walter Verhaeghe, Bernie and Dovey McGhee. He is also survived by his 4 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Anglican Church of Rocky, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
