He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Nykiforuk and Caroline Nykiforuk; his stepmother Paraska; and his siblings, Paul, Emily, Dumas, Morris, William, Dick, Walter, Tom, Nick, Odarka and Cairns.
He is survived by: his spouses, Elizabeth Srayko and Hazel; his children, Donald Nelson (Sharyn) of Fairview, Raymond Nelson (Ann) of Fairview and Joyce Nelson (Murray) of Parksville; his stepchildren, Gloria Rhodes (Ken), Richard McBlane and Kim McBlane; his grandchildren, David, Jennifer Straughan (David), Valerie Muggaberg (John), Lethe Johanesson (Troy), Christopher, Samantha Picklyk (Chris), Ray (Alaina), Danny, Natalie, Carlos, Mark Nelson, Julie Nelson, Aileen Rhodes and Corinne Rhodes; his siblings, Olga Verret (Gilles), Oraise, Horkoff and Peter (Ina); and his sisters-in-law, Sophie, Lillian and Mary. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Interment: Pine Grove Cemetery Notice: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's name to the acute care unit of the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.
