He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby May Deacon; his siblings, Adelina, Edna (Rath), Annette (Wiest) and Albert; his grandsons, Joshua Laye and Shawn Nielsen; and his great grandchild Eden Laye.
He is survived by: his children, Shirley Nielsen (Jack), Linda Peterson (Harold), Randy Laye (Judy) and Debra Lynnette; his grandchildren, Lonnie (Kirstin), Jason (Jennifer), Chad (Jolea), Natalie (Laina), Duke (Lacinda) and Tova (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Sierra, Eric, Amber, Ben, Marissa, Aveya, Cayson, Reece, Ryerson, Kiana, Oliver, Everly, Keenan and Eliza; his brothers, Alex and Bill Laye; his sister-in-law Vay Dumouchel; and his close friends, Ron Seely and Carl Ganter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
