He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilf Slack and May Slack. He is survived by: his wife Helen'Jo'; his daughters, Bonnie Hayward (Ken) and Linda Juenke (Gary); his grandchildren, Matt Hayward (Jacki), Tim Hayward, Megan Power (Joel) and Jessica Bridge (Colton); his great grandchildren, Ryan, Marley, Ferron Bridge, Jasper, Margot Hayward and Farley Power; his sister Joan Briggs of Powell River; and his nephews, Steven Briggs (Kristen), Camron, Duncan and Darren Briggs (Andra).
On June 1, 1984, Ron was presented with a plaque for the official opening of "Slack Slough" for his outstanding contribution to the preservation of Wildlife Habitat in the Province of Alberta.
