He is survived by: his children, Lee Merkel, Chasidy (Nathen) and Cormin; his grandchildren, Alex and Thea Cormin; and also Nora Craddock (Rick). He is also survived by (sister) and Lionel Merkel (brother).

He recently completed a bible study group online during the beginning of the pandemic's quarantine.
