Glynn Meyrick Humphreys Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Glynn Meyrick Humphreys (Red Deer, Alberta), Glynn was born in 1947 in Worthing, Sussex, England, who passed away on May 19, 2023, at the age of 76. The third child and only son of John Meyrick Humphreys and Francis Humphreys (Keeping).
A school report from 1957 once stated that Glynn is bright and a keen learner, albeit easily distracted. A report that was able to predict a great majority of Glynn’s character through life. Always interested in new challenges and easily distracted.
It was this adventurous spirit which allowed Glynn to do the most unconventional things, whether it was serving in the Royal Navy as a deep sea diver or working as a Civil Engineer. This career choice eventually led him and his wife Susan to immigrate to Canada, touring the country on an old school bus, settling first in British Columbia, before making Alberta their home.
From dairy farming and opening a touring petting zoo to amateur dramatics and carpentry, from trying to find the perfect cross-breed of Chicken, to being an officer in numerous masonic bodies, from superintending Dog shows to being a breed ambassador for Irish Wolfhounds, Glynn lived a full and rich life.
Above all, Glynn was someone who loved his friends, his family, and his many children. He touched many lives and his loss will be felt for years to come. Glynn is survived by his wife Susan and his children Mark, Kathie, Julie, Charles, Daniel, Samuel, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Autumn.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 3rd 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Freemason Hall (4815 52 Street, Red Deer, Alberta T4N2C6).
