He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Hougestol and Marie Hougestol; his wife Jennie Belle Hougestol; his siblings, Stanley, Russell, Archie Hougestol, Thelma Crough and Beatrice Tellier; his siblings-in-law, Mary Ann Zeluf, Gertie Hougestol, Delbert Crough and Laurier Tellier; his niece Jane Oliva; and his sons-in-law, Gary Mullin and Doug Erickson.
He is survived by: his children, Jeri Lynne Erickson, Kathy Mullin and Brent Hougestol (Bonnie); his siblings-in-law, Lorna May Betteridge (Terry), Audrey Hougestol and Richard Zeluf; and his close friend Barbara Hollings. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and his fifteen great grandchildren.
