She was predeceased by: her parents, Wylie Thomson and Helen Thomson; her parents-in-law, James and Dora Layton; her nephew Jason; her great-niece Melissa; her sister-in-law Merlene; her nephew-in-law Daniel; and her brother-in-law Rick.

She is survived by: her husband Barry Layton; her sons, Benjamin and Johnathan of Calgary; her siblings, Jim Thomson of Olds, Mary Deisman (Robert) of Olds, Florence Thomson of Olds and Brian Thomson (Connie) of Red Deer; her brother-in-law Gordon Layton (Patricia) of Edmonton; her nieces and nephews, Bradley (Jodi), Jeffery (Jessica), Joy (JD), Ryan (Sarah), Karissa (Garrick) and Brayden (Candace); and her nieces-in-law, Jennifer (Joseph) and Heather (Troy).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home of Hope, http://www.homeofhope.ca, a non-profit organization founded by Dian's brother Brian, helping international desperate children and widows.
