He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert John West and Clara Annie (Malcolm); his sister Lynne; his stepfather Bill Bates; and his birth mother Mary Rye.

He is survived by: his children, Lori, Jennifer and Mikhael; his grandson Jesse (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Staci and Karaline; his sister Colleen; and his stepsiblings, Emerson, Sheldon Bates and Eileen Smith (Bates). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
