He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Whitesell and Olive Whitesell; his stepmother Sadie Whitesell; his sister Betty Jean; his sister-in-law Louise Whitesell; his brothers, Harry (Marion) and Charles (Audrey); and his brother-in-law Gordon Sakofsky.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Whitesell; his children, Betty Campbell of Red Deer, Alberta, Rob Watson (Wendell) of Peace River, Alberta, Pat Nilsson (Barry), Lyn Layton (Tom) of Rimbey, Alberta and Rick Whitesell (Barb) of Red Deer, Alberta; and his siblings, John Whitesell of Sundre and Ruby Sakofsky of Red Deer. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
