He was predeceased by: his wife Cathy Thompson; his parents, Marie Thompson and Vern Thompson; his mother-in-law Joyce Baird; and his brothers, David Thompson and Kevin Thompson.

He is survived by: his children, Craig Thompson and Christine Swift (Dan Thayer); his grandson Eli Swift; his siblings, Larry Thompson (Ski), Valerie Dillen (Will), Cathy Hansen and Ryan Thompson (Ayla); and his sisters-in-law, Joann Swarbrick (Calvin), Laurie Whitecotton (Marty), Sandra Crooker, Denise Watson (Tyrone) and Danita Hunt (Don). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
