With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Leonard Lightning (Ponoka, Alberta), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 30, 2024 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his fathers, Albert "Buffalo Child" Lightning and Jessie Lightning; his uncle James Lightning; his aunts, Nancy LeClaire, Jenny Lightning and Madeleine Goodin; his brothers, Bob Anthony Lightning, Robert Swampy and Gordon Lee; his wife Madeleine Lightning; and his granddaughter Rona Ivory Lightning Martineau.
He is survived by: his sisters, Marion Scalplock, Ruth McNabb and Jessica Lomayestewa; his daughters, Gail Lightning, Angela Lightning (Gerald), DeAnne Lightning, Jade Lightning and Ohpikihew; and his grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie (Sissy), Jenelle, Josh, Jess, Maskwa, Megisis, Mekwan, Utin, Ambros and George. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
