He was predeceased by: his parents, John Steed and Ivy Steed; and his sister Glenda Schell. He is survived by: his sons, Kevin (Dayna), Brian (Wanda) and Sean (Helen); his wife Sharleen Simmons; his grandchildren, Kale, Dylan (Francis), Logan, Madison, Hannah, William, Ryan, Connor, Eva and Landen; and his great grandchildren, Walker and Lennon.

He was made lifetime member after his contributions to the construction work at the club.
