He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Caroline Rhine; and his sister Florence Armstrong of Okotoks, Alberta.. He is survived by: his children, David (Shonna), Van and Louanne; his grandchildren, Geoffrey Rhine (Jessica Leeworthy), Arden Hicks (Riley Hicks) and Brett Rhine (Shanaya Rhine); and his great grandchildren, Rowen and Carter Rhine.

Kay became ill with Parkinson's disease and for the last 7 years of her life resided in a long-term care facility.
