He was predeceased by: his mother Augustina Lehr; his stepfather John Lehr; his siblings, Eva Medd and Albrecht Engler; his brother-in-law Brian Smail; and his nephew Mark Smail.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Mike (Donna) and Melissa (Mike); his grandchildren, Tyson (Erica), Allison (Quintin) and Cody (Miriah); his great grandchildren, Roman, Laikyn, Brooks and Audrey; his siblings, Hannah Smail, Kuni Cox (Steve), Carol Engler and Walter Engler (Marcia); his brother-in-law Eddie Moss (Marilyn); his aunt Lili; and his caregivers, Trisha, Lilia, Trina, Dr. Bharwani, Dr. Majeed, Dr. Dirker, Louis of Respiratory and Shaun. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
