He was predeceased by: his parents, William Whillans and Alice Whillans; his brothers, George Whillans and Jim Whillans; and his daughter Diane Rever.

He is survived by: his wife Annie Whillans 'Nee' Hanna; his children, Edward Whillans (Erica), Deborah Foster Lay and Kevin Whillans (Sharlene); and his siblings, Ken Willans, Bill Whillans and Joyce McDermott. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
