He was predeceased by: his wife Lynne Shirtliffe; his parents, Peter Shirtliffe and Mary Shirtliffe; his brother Glenn Shirtliffe; his siblings-in-law, Gladys Toth, Elaine Shirtliffe and Tony Toth; and his parents-in-law, Les and Sophie Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Dwaine Shirtliffe (Mary) and Laureen Dimmel (Darrell); his grandchildren, Amanda Shirtliffe, Tevis Shirtliffe (Lynette), Jamie Trowbridge (Adam) and Meaghan Cooke (Hunter); his great grandchildren, Chance Murray, Laura, Katherine Shirtliffe, Emery Trowbridge, Raeya and Cole Cooke; his brother Doug Shirtliffe; and his siblings-in-law, Barbara Gayle Shirtliffe, Alvin Smith, Grant Smith (Linda) and Colleen McMillan (Dwain). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
