He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Esselink and Grace Esselink; his stepfather John Mulder Sr.; and his stepsiblings, John Mulder and Jo Brouwer.
He is survived by: his wife Trix; his children, Carmen Steward (Jeremy), Tim Esselink (Veronica), Valerie Esselink and Rachel Wagner (Seth); his grandson Liam Esselink; his sister Nancy VanderPloeg (Mike); and his sister-in-law Tetsy Mulder. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
