He is survived by: his father Bill Merkl of Barnwell; his siblings, Andrea Pyne of Edmonton, Sheila Terpstra (Jesse) of Lethbridge and John Merkl of Barnwell; and his nieces and nephews, Brittany Fletcher (Shawn), Hunter Pyne, Evelyn, Emily, Francine, Luke Terpstra and Zander Merkl.
