He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacobus Johanna and Teuntje Johanna; and his siblings, Janny, Dirk, Cor, Marie and Nel.

He is survived by: his wife Tressa Brandhorst; his children, Jim (Heleen), Dirk and Joyce; his grandchildren, Neil (Miho), Dustin (Julie), Troy, Luke (Ayca), Ramona, Cameron and Tyler (Sarah); his sister Teuntje; and his stepchildren, Deborah, Kevin, Jeff and Corwin. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
