Michael James Coyne Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael 'Mike' Coyne on August 29th, 2022, at the age of 77 years.
Mike is survived by his wife Fran (McGoldrick) of Nobleford, AB; his son Michael Coyne Jr of Calgary, AB; his daughter Lorelei (Bruce) Atkinson; granddaughter Kimberley (Matthew) Wagenknect; grandson Curtis Atkinson of Picture Butte, AB; his beloved sister Pat (Metro) Stefanishin of Portage La Prairie MB; brothers Neil, Bob, Dale and their wives of Sudbury, Ont., and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mike was predeceased by his mother Yvonne Coyne (nee: Brunet) and his father Robert P. Coyne of Sudbury, Ontario.
Mike enjoyed a 50 year trucking career traveling across Canada and the US, beginning with a great mentor at the age of 17, when reefers did not exist. The van was simply filled with ice that got replenished at the many ice houses on the route. There were many trucking stories relayed around the kitchen table over that span of time, when we were lucky to see him home for a few days.
In later years he had a passion for hot rods, built a 1946 International, and the adventures carried on, traveling across North America in his pride and joy.
Many thanks to the staff at Chinook Regional Hospital and the staff at St. Michael's Health Centre whose compassion of care made his last days as comfortable as possible. Special thanks to Dr. Shakira for his stories when we needed to laugh, Shukreya.
At Mike's request there will be no funeral service. Instead, remember him for his passion for trucking, hot rods and his great smile.
Donations made be made to St. Michael's Health Care Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
