He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert and Caroline; and his brother Bill. He is survived by : his wife Irene; his daughter Carolyn McConnel; his stepchildren, Owen Simpson, Shan Simpson and Shelley Townsend; his grandchildren, Casper Shortreed, Erika Borthwick (Richard), Trista Townsend and Aaron Townsend (Sara); and his great grandchildren, Murphy Borthwick and Olivia Borthwick.
