He was predeceased by: his parents, Louie Bouma and Nina Bouma (Kaptein); his grandson Jason Teunissen; his great grandchildren, Damien Vossebelt and Jason Slingerland; and his siblings, Pete Bouma (Nellie), Herman Bouma (Madelyn), Henry Bouma (Paula), Andrew Bouma (Marie), Ralph Bouma, John Bouma (Edith), Ann Greyn (Huigh) and Henrietta van (Wulfert) of Lagemaat.
He is survived by: his children, Louie Bouma (Trudy), John Bouma (Cindy), Jennie Garramon (Chris), Norma Vossebelt (Ray), Rosalie Slingerland (Case) and Donna Teunissen (Randy); his sisters, Jennie Luteyn (John) and Frances Teunissen (Larry); and his sister-in-law Cornelia Bouma. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
