He was predeceased by: his children, Clayton and Carol; and his parents, Orville Bates and Mary Bates. He is survived by: his wife Annie; and his children, Laurie (Bryon Summers), Lynne (Lee McClung), Leslie (Kelly Anderson) and Logan (Jolayne). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
