He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Gertzen; his daughter Karen Gertzen; his parents, Lawrence Gertzen and Jean Gertzen; and his brother Lewis Gertzen.

He is survived by: his sons, Kevin Gertzen (Cindy) of Vauxhall, Keith Gertzen (Kim) of Vauxhall and Kurt Gertzen (Amanda) of Vauxhall; his grandsons, Rylan (Ashley), Braden, Logan and Connor; his brother Richard Gertzen; and his siblings-in-law, Gil Pakarno, Verna Lees and Linda McAughey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
