He was predeceased by: his wife Janet; his parents, John and Elizabeth; and his parents-in-law, Mary Thiel (Don), Joe (Helen), Bernie (Ella) and Margaret Carr.

He is survived by: his children, Margaret, Alan (Rosalie) and Jennifer; his grandchildren, Ryan (Sam Valin), Zachary (Veronica) and Matthew (Kayla); and his sisters, Jeanette Smeed (Jack) and Marlene Gill (Don). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
