He was predeceased by: his parents, James McDonald and Ruby McDonald; his parents-in-law, Ernest and Eva Kragnes; his siblings, Jack (Gladys), Bruce (Verna) and Shirley Mallard (Roy); his siblings-in-law, Jeanne McDonald and Bob Kragnes; and his grandson Brodie Buksa.

He is survived by: his wife Beatrice; his children, Daryl McDonald (Sandra), Donna Ruud (Cliff), James McDonald and Carolyn Buksa (Rocky); his brother Don McDonald of Kamloops, BC; his grandchildren, Angie McDonald (Kim Hudon), Lindsay Pollard (Travis), Tony Graham (Sharlyn), Brett Graham (Kristen), Janie McDonald, Jordan McDonald, Kayla Buksa (Theo Van Gurp) and Cole Buksa (Andrea Millman); and his stepgrandchildren, Tara Petroutsokas (Kon) and Carson Ruud (Elexa). He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family.
