He was predeceased by: his wife Rose; and his siblings, Bay Douglas (Archy William), Nancy Carr and Lily Watson. He is survived by: his brother Sabre Ranch; his close friend Sam Glover; his children, Smiley Jr. (Lynne), Paddy (Karin), Garry and Bonny (Ken); and his brother Jim Douglas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
