He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Thomson (Simpson) and Jack Thomson; and his brothers-in-law, Ed Ehrman, Bob Hornby, Russell Bennett, Jim Johnston and Ron Johnston.
He is survived by: his sisters, Kay Thomson, Jean Bennett and Pat Hornby; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Ehrman, Diane Luxen (Jeff), June Bevan and Doug Johnston (Marie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in John's memory to the Innisfail Historical Society or to a charity of their choice.
