He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Edith Veldhuis; his children, Nicole Veldhuis (Larry Ridley) and Cory Veldhuis; his grandchildren, Carter, Ethan and Aubree; and his siblings, Eunice McKinnon (Jim), Vera Hogg, Robert Veldhuis (Marlene), Bud Veldhuis (Kathy), Bill Veldhuis (Ruth), Esther Johnstone, Pat Calkins (Bob), Edith Veldhuis, Ruth Veldhuis-Wierenga, Richard Veldhuis (Denise Dalziel) and Theresa Wills. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
