He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Bernhardt Nelson (Charlie) and Cecilia Christina Sullivan (Sis); his wife Raema Lee Burke; his children, Carolyn Louise Thompson and Cody Merlin Nelson; his sisters, Hilda Christina Johnsson and Lorraine Cecilia Spencer; and his children, Patti Abel (Cody) and David Thompson (Carolyn).
He is survived by: his children, Carla Rae Kennedy (David), Cynthia Darlene Deans (Joel) and Cole Bernhardt Nelson (Tracy); his grandchildren, Brian Thompson, Jennifer (Neufeld), Sharleen Thompson, Shanna Abel, Kayla (Bosch), Kirsten, Kolten Nelson, Nigel, Devan, Aidan Deans, Charley and Sadie Nelson; and his siblings-in-law, Bertil Johnsson, Carolyn Dumka Burke and Beryl Leonard Burke. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
