He was predeceased by: his children, Catherine Lynn Ironside and Donald "Don" William Ironside; his nephew Allan Merritt; and also Lois Dale Ironside (Jensen). He is survived by: his sisters, Jeannie Merritt and Edith Sallenback; his daughter Marion Ironside-Needham (Larry); his grandchildren, Donald Ironside, Slim Needham (Tammy Pigden) and Jason Needham; and his great grandchild Colt Needham. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
