He was predeceased by: his son Neil McIlwrick. He is survived by: his wife Valerie McIlwrick; and his children, Debra Leschinski (Frank) of Lloydminster, Brian McIlwrick (Emilia) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Donna Clarke (Calvin) of Wainwright, AB. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
