She was predeceased by: her mother Koviljka. She is survived by: her children, Gorana and Goran (Adina); her grandchildren, Luka, Teodora, Jevdjević, Jelić, Mrkajić, Milicić and Jovanović; and her spouse Dragan Jakovljević.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Smiljka's name to the Cross Cancer Institute of Alberta.
