He was predeceased by: his parents, William Stringer and Marion Stringer of Michael's Anglican Church; his grandparents, Emily Stringer, David and Maude Oliver; his cousins, Ron Oliver, Harold Horton and Norma Sherman; and his grandfather Henry Stringer.
He is survived by: his siblings, Dave Stringer (Gaylene), Gwen Stringer-Klassen (Jack) of Shell Lake, SK and Elaine Newman (Steve) of Hillmond, SK; and his nieces and nephews, Aaron Marlatt (Jen) of Spruce Grove, AB, Brendan Marlatt of Edmonton, AB, Melody Marlatt (TJ) of Edmonton, AB, Michelle Marlatt (Jason) of Courtney, BC, Jason Newman (Nic) of Hillmond, SK, Jackie Harray (Brent) of Viking, AB, Dustin Newman (Becky) of Kitscoty, AB, Harley Newman (Stephanie) of Hillmond, SK, Shaun Newman (Melissa) of Lloydminster, AB, Nathan Stringer (Tiffany) of Edmonton, AB, Merrilee Stringer of Edmonton, AB and Cynthia Westergaard (Steven) of Islay, AB.
In 2021, Russell having been plagued in recent years with diabetes, ended up during Covid in St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon; and after another lengthy stay came home to rehab, and resume ranch life.
