With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mavis McKay (Edmonton, Alberta), born in Camrose, Alberta, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. As we bid Mavis farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Mavis is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Anne Havard Fouts (Sanders) and Percy Havard. She is survived by: her children, Shauna Oakie (Rob), Sheena Sutherland (Bill) and Laurie McKay; her sister Beverly Smith; and her sons, Colin and Kevin McKay. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Mavis's contributions to her community were recognized when she was a 2015 Volunteer Citizen of the Year Finalist: Social Advocacy Award, for her significant contribution and outstanding commitment in supporting the well-being of people with the utmost compassion.
