Julie Le Brun (Macaulay) Mander Obituary

Julie Le Brun Mander

She is known by most of her community as Julie Macaulay Mander or Julie M. Mander. She died on May 17, 2023 at River Crest Nursing Home in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Julie was born on March 1, 1935 in Montreal, Quebec. She was the youngest of four children in the prominent family of Douglas Lawson and Ada Althea Macaulay. She grew up with her siblings in Montreal, and Hudson, Quebec.
She married Sidney James Mander in Winnipeg, in 1964. They were together until Sidney’s sudden death in 2001. She is survived by two children, Keith and Rhona (Robert Sox). She is also survived by two half children (twins), Paul and Doug.
Julie was known for her healthy lifestyle, especially in her food choices, and was very active in her Christian faith and the natural community connections that came with this lifestyle. She hosted her own TV program, and enjoyed outdoor physical activities like swimming, hiking, bird watching, and bike riding. When her husband was alive, she traveled to many countries for extended periods of time to learn about their culture, and explore new ideas.
She and her husband moved out to Vancouver Island in 1988, and then she moved to Alberta to be closer to her grandchildren (Justin and Bryce) in 2010. She continued with her healthy lifestyle up until 2020, doing her own cooking and participating in activities such as biking riding, theatre acting, and swimming.
A celebration service will be held at Fort Saskatchewan Fellowship Baptist Church on Friday, May 26 at 1pm. A live stream link is available: https://youtu.be
