He is survived by: his wife BettyAnn; his children, Peter, Alicia Fenton, Tara and Bryan Connell; his grandsons, Jett Fenton, Brady Connell and Wyatt Connell; his pets, Palmer and Buster; his siblings, Alan (Betty), Bruce, Raymond (Marg) and Muriel (Bud Powell); and his siblings-in-law, Jill (Peter Stanley) and John Blythe.

Memorial donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society or S.P.C.A. in recognition of Jim's love for all animals, or a charity of choice.
