He was predeceased by: his parents, Folkert Tolsma and Gerda Tolsma; his brothers, Arthur Tolsma and George Tolsma; and his brother-in-law Lee Knoppers.

He is survived by: his wife Anita; and his stepchildren, Andrea Kalkman (Pieter), Donald Tolsma (Yvonne), Peter Tolsma (Melissa), Tammy Hanko (Mike), Joseph Tolsma, Jessica Tolsma, Jeffrey Tolsma (Laura), Kimberly Tolsma, Lesley Meelker (Clinton), Tanya Buiter (Thomas), Kristi Kalsbeek (Ethan), Gerrit Tolsma and Kayla Wierenga (Aaron). He is also survived by 13 children, their spouses, 40 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
