He was predeceased by: his parents, Don McDavid and Jean McDavid; and his brothers-in-law, Ed Garries and Dick Pedlar. He is survived by: his wife Georgianna (Pedlar); his sister Sharla; his children, Christopher (Jill) and Alison (Brian); and his grandchildren, Brooke, Jace, Brayden, Ethan and Luke. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and special friends.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, Georgianna, Chris and Alison are accepting donations to support a Physics scholarship in honour of Doug McDavid at the W.E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus.
