He was predeceased by: his wife Susan; and his parents, Anthony Schultz and Leona Schultz. He is survived by: his children, Stacey Schultz (Kevin Charlebois) and Corlie Dalzell (Todd); his stepson Donovan Gemmell (Shannon); his grandchildren, Kyle Ayerst, Kelsey Taylor, Brett Ayerst, Koleten Dalzell, Harper Gemmell and Carson Gemmell; and his siblings, Brenda Glancy (Ian), Darrell Schultz (Joanne) and Tim Schultz. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations in memory of Byron may be made to the ALS Society of Alberta or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
